Washington National Cathedral

After a recent trip to Bethesda, MD, we decided to take a slight detour on the way back home to NYC. With Christmas falling on a Thursday this year, Friday was considered a Federal Holiday, at least in Washington, D.C., so we figured that traffic would be minimal. We figured correctly. Our return schedule wasn't wide open but it did have plenty of wiggle room. How much wiggle room? Not enough to get out of the car and stroll around looking at all the monuments, but enough to drive up to a spot, pull over, take a few shots and then move on to the next site. This was the perfect day for this type of shooting. Having very little traffic and no enforcement of questionable parking allowed us to see a lot of sites, some new and some old. One very impressive site that I have never seen nor visited was the Washington National Cathedral. We were lucky enough to pull into a "parking spot" across the street from the cathedral and get a few shots out of the car window...rolled down of course. This particular image was captured with my new phone, the Motorola Moto X 2014 pure edition.
